How to Restore Your Delaware License After a No-Insurance Suspension

Last checked · Sources listed below

The short answer

These are the steps the Delaware agency lists to restore a license after a suspension for no insurance. The state's reinstatement fees are $50 to $200, depending on the suspension. Delaware uses its own proof-of-insurance rule instead of the SR-22 name.

Steps listed by the Delaware agency

  1. Have your insurance company email or fax proof of insurance to the DMV Uninsured Motorist Section (deum@delaware.gov, fax 302-739-4750)
  2. Pay the uninsured vehicle fee: $100 for the first 30 days and $5 each day thereafter
  3. Pay the $50 registration reinstatement fee and the $50 driver license reinstatement fee
  4. Pay online with myDMV account services, by phone at (302) 744-2513, or in person in Dover

Need to drive to work while suspended? The state offers a Occupational license. Many states limit these licenses to certain suspensions, such as DUI cases, so check that it covers yours.
