Editorial Policy and Corrections
Every rule, fee, limit and deadline on this site comes from the state agency or the law itself, and each page links the sources it was checked against. Where a state does not publish a fact, we say so instead of guessing.
Sources, in order of trust
- The statute or regulation on the state legislature's or agency's website.
- The state agency's own page or form (DMV, DPS, MVD, BMV, insurance department).
- National research bodies for statistics only (for example, the Insurance Research Council for uninsured-driver rates).
We do not use insurer, agency or law firm pages as a source for a state rule.
How pages are checked
Each state's facts are checked against its sources and the date is shown on the page as "Last checked". State data was checked twice: once when written, and again by a separate review of all 50 states and DC against the state sources. Facts a state does not publish are marked with a dagger (†) in our tables. We use software tools, including AI, to draft and cross-check pages; we check every fact against the linked state source before publishing, and we fix confirmed errors when a reader or a review finds one. See how we build and check the data.
What we never publish
Insurance prices or quotes, rankings of insurers, or advice about your case. We are not lawyers or insurance agents.
Money and independence
If we link to insurance comparison services in the future, those links will be labeled, and payments will never change the state rules, fees or deadlines we publish. See how the site is funded.
Corrections
If a page and its state source disagree, the source is right. Email the page link and the source to corrections@legaltodriveagain.com. We review every report, fix confirmed errors, and update the page's "Last checked" date.
Effective November 3, 2026.
