How to Restore Your Michigan License After a No-Insurance Suspension

Last checked · Sources listed below

The short answer

These are the steps the Michigan agency lists to restore a license after a suspension for no insurance. The state's reinstatement fees are $25 to $125, depending on the suspension. Michigan uses its own proof-of-insurance rule instead of the SR-22 name.

Steps listed by the Michigan agency

  1. Serve the suspension: 30 days from the civil infraction determination or until proof of insurance is submitted, whichever is later
  2. Submit proof of insurance meeting MCL 500.3101 and 500.3102 to the Secretary of State
  3. Pay the $25.00 service fee to the Secretary of State
  4. Pay eligible reinstatement fees online (Operator License > More > Pay Reinstatement Fee), by mail with the reinstatement form, or at an office
