How to Restore Your Nevada License After a No-Insurance Suspension

Last checked · Sources listed below

The short answer

These are the steps the Nevada agency lists to restore a license after a suspension for no insurance. The state's reinstatement fees are $75 to $750, depending on the suspension. Whether an SR-22 is also required depends on your case.

Steps listed by the Nevada agency

  1. Obtain Nevada liability insurance on the vehicle and have your insurance company validate the new coverage electronically.
  2. Reinstate the registration online (MyDMV or the one-time reinstatement with an access code beginning with R) or at a kiosk, paying the tiered fee and fine.
  3. If an SR-22 is required (lapse of 91 days or more, or a third offense), have your insurer file it and keep it for 3 years.
  4. If your driver license was suspended (third offense within five years), pay the $75 reinstatement fee plus the cost of the license and any testing fees.

Check your status first

Check your license status or reinstatement requirements on the state's own website before you pay anything.

Check status with the state

Need to drive to work while suspended? The state offers a Restricted license (and Restriction Y ignition interlock license for DUI). Many states limit these licenses to certain suspensions, such as DUI cases, so check that it covers yours.
