How to Restore Your New Hampshire License After a No-Insurance Suspension

Last checked · Sources listed below

The short answer

These are the steps the New Hampshire agency lists to restore a license after a suspension for no insurance. The state's reinstatement fee is $100. Whether an SR-22 is also required depends on your case.

Steps listed by the New Hampshire agency

  1. Contact an insurance carrier licensed in New Hampshire to file the uniform SR-22 certificate; privileges cannot be restored until the filing requirement is met.
  2. Pay the $100 License/Operating Privilege restoration fee (plus $25 Registration Privilege Restoration Fee if registration is suspended).
  3. Pay by calling the Credit Card Payment line at 1-800-272-0036, through the Concord DMV Drop Box (check payable to State of NH-DMV with a note, name and date of birth), or by appointment at the Concord DMV.
  4. After the filing period, ask the Bureau of Financial Responsibility to review your record for a Notice of Relief of Filing.

Check your status first

The state has no online status check that we found; its page lists how to ask by phone or in person.

Need to drive to work while suspended? The state offers a Limited driving privilege (RSA 263:57-b, court petition). Many states limit these licenses to certain suspensions, such as DUI cases, so check that it covers yours.
