How to Restore Your Pennsylvania License After a No-Insurance Suspension
The short answer
These are the steps the Pennsylvania agency lists to restore a license after a suspension for no insurance. The state's reinstatement fees are $94 to $119, depending on the suspension. Pennsylvania uses its own proof-of-insurance rule instead of the SR-22 name.
Steps listed by the Pennsylvania agency
- Serve the three-month driver's license suspension (and three-month registration suspension) imposed for driving uninsured.
- Request your free Driver's License Restoration Requirements Letter online (Restorations, then Request Your DL Restoration Requirements Letter) or by calling 717-412-5300.
- Pay the driver's license restoration fee ($94, or $202 for a CDL) online, by mail, or at a Driver License Center.
- Restore the vehicle registration: submit current proof of insurance within 30 days before your eligibility date and pay the $119 registration restoration fee (or pay the optional $500 civil penalty in lieu of the registration suspension).

Check your status first
Check your license status or reinstatement requirements on the state's own website before you pay anything.
Need to drive to work while suspended? The state offers a Occupational Limited License (OLL); Ignition Interlock Limited License (IILL). Many states limit these licenses to certain suspensions, such as DUI cases, so check that it covers yours.
